It’s my husbands and mine favorite Asian restaurant in Longmont or Colorado. We have been to several in Illinois where we live and we still love sumo sushi restaurant. The two of us are not big sushi eaters but the scallops are wonderful and I love the pork dumplings and the sauce! The service was excellent and we celebrated our daughter’s birthday! Our granddaughter loves their sushi! She always gets it!
I would have given this a 5. Only reason it is 4 is because the ramen was not good and could use minor improvements, other than that, this place is excellent!! Appetizers: Seaweed salad Jalapeño bomb Main dishes: Steak Teriyaki Box (rare w/fried rice upgrade) Spice Kimchi Ramen First came the miso soup & salad, both were good, but both could use small flavor adjustments, the salad needed a little bit more flavor & was a little watery. Soup was great I loved the appearance and consistency, looked amazing, just needing a little more flavor. For the seaweed salad a bit fishy, other than that great, I loved the ratio of seaweed to cucumber and the way the cucumber was cut made this dish taste better! MY FAVORITE the jalapeño bomb!! This was amazing!! I want more!! Definitely 100% recommend!! For the main dishes: the lunch special box was great! Good flavors, steak cooked amazing, a little sweet, not too too sweet, I would recommend using more natural sweeteners for this. Fried rice was good, could use small improvements as well. The seaweed in California roll was a bit too fishy for me, I did pull it apart & eat the middles. I did really like the consistency and how everything was cut inside. Great gob! Ordered a side of spicy mayo, it was good! Yum yum was good as well, tasted homemade. Ramen: I did not like this dish. There was way too much stuff going on at the top and each bite was chewy, flavors were not good, tasted like spiced water. Canned corn. Just didn’t taste fresh at all. I would recommend re doing the ramen recipes! The appearance was great!! Looked amazing, taste needs improved I would not recommend! I don’t like going to the same restaurant twice, but I will definitely be back for more jalapeño bombs! Omg 🤩
Went here for a casual anniversary dinner and was very pleased! We had takoyaki, tempura, scallop hibachi, and sake, all of which was very delicious. It's also much more reasonably priced than other similar locations nearby. We'll be back.
Definitely the best spot for good sushi in Longmont! We really enjoy coming here with friends or for a nice date night. The crab tartar appetizer is absolutely delicious! Haven't tried the hibachi side of their menu because we're distracted with the great sushi meals, but everything is worth the slightly above average price. You will not be disappointed, their drink menu is great for whatever mood you're in for adult beverages. In the photo, we ordered the salmon roe, fantastic roll (definitely a winner if you're ok with a strong cilantro flavor) and the sashimi/sushi combo. We are lucky to get great servers who are attentive and polite and fast! Highly recommend this spot.
Everything is very tasty but I HIGHLY recommend the Ninja Fruit Roll for dessert. It blew my mind! I think it is my favorite dessert of all time. If you visit Sumo Sushi you MUST order it! It’s fruity, crunchy and not overly sweet. Did I mention it looks like a sushi roll? Cute and yummy!
